Osborne Clarke tie-up with BigHand
Business law firm Osborne Clarke entered into a strategic technology tie-up with BigHand, wherein the IT Company installed its Digital Dictation software. The move is expected to lead to an increase in the firm's efficiency savings up to $ 3.8 million (£ 2 million) in the coming five years. The European-based firm will install and implement the latest IT tool across all international offices including the Silicon Valley office in U.S. The system will enable the firm to pool resources across offices to provide a more efficient service for fee earners, particularly with regard to supporting corporate transactions. The system is beneficial in normal office environment and enables firms with international destinations to make the most of their resources. Osborne Clarke has the recognition of being the first pan-European firm to set up shop in technological capital of California.
Former Law Clerk opens own firm
Matt Flanery, a former Law Clerk of the late U.S. District Judge William Steger climbed the ladder of his success with the opening of his own law firm in Tyler. The Grant and Flanery Law Firm will be run along with Darren Grant, and will focus on personal injury litigation — though it will also welcome criminal cases and civil lawsuits. Starting a small firm the duo intends to grow their practice manifold. Flanery, who worked for the late Judge for six years, though did not try cases, gained a lot of experience from other lawyers practicing in the federal court. Grant served Loncar and Associates before he joined Flanery in their new venture.
Six attorneys join healthcare practice of Fulbright & Jaworski
Fulbright & Jaworski recently hired six lawyers in its national healthcare practice group in Clayton. The new entrants include two partners James Wiehl and Stacey Murphy, senior counsel Phillip Rothermich, senior associate Christopher Kanagawa, associate Nate Hwang, and counsel Karen Davis. They will look after transactional matters; administrative and regulatory issues; and litigation, including complex commercial and professional liability claims. This initiative provides an excellent platform for the firm to expand its services to a wider range of health care clients. Although Fulbright does not have a full-service office in the St. Louis, several local lawyers handling Fulbright's Middle Eastern law practice have been working from the Clayton location since last year.
Gallo Gefner to merge operations with Schenck & Price
Two New Jersey-based law firms Gallo Geffner Fenster PC, and Schenck, Price, Smith and King LLP have firmed up plans to merge their operations and work in joint collaboration. The merged firm will retain the name Schenck, Price, Smith and King and will have combined strength of 80 attorneys. The lawyers will offer expertise in various practice areas including finance and transactional work; environmental law; real estate; insurance coverage and regulatory compliance; trusts and estates; construction; and labor and employment. The merged firm will have offices in Paramus and New York City.
Top lawyers hired for leveraged capital group of Alston & Bird
Alston & Bird hired senior lawyers Tom Amis and Nik Patel as partners in the firm's Leveraged Capital group. The duo, based at the firm's Washington D.C. office, will look after development and financing of project deals related to energy clients and capital providers. Amis will serve as co-chair of the firm's Renewable Energy Team, a multidisciplinary group, whereas Patel will act as counselor to companies in connection with development activities, stock and asset mergers and acquisitions, joint venture arrangements, private and public debt and equity offerings.
Winsor strengthens firm with addition of 7 lawyers
Arizona's Winsor Law Firm PLCC bolstered its Mesa practice with the addition of seven attorneys. Andrew Briggs, Steven C. Mahaffy, David W. Eichman and R. Lee Steers Jr. have joined the law firm as partners. Serving the firm as junior partner is attorney Jonah A. Toleno, while Liane C. Kido and Lawrence D. Pew will work as associates. The lawyers will boost the firm's practice areas including commercial litigation, real estate, business law and personal injury among others. A full service law firm, Winsor Law Firm has offices in Mesa, Fountain Hills, Downtown Mesa and Phoenix, Arizona.
