Leading IP law firm signs on to "Start! with the CEO"

Premier intellectual property law firm Brinks, Hofer, Gilson & Lione has announced that it is the first law firm in the metropolitan Chicago area to have signed on to "Start! with the CEO." Second Annual Paralegal Managers' Institute

In a press release, leading integrated media company ALM announced that it has scheduled the Second Annual Paralegal Managers' Institute for February 26, 2007, in Washington, DC, and March 8, 2007, in Los Angeles, CA. The event will provide paralegal managers from law firms and in-house legal departments with a platform for the exchange of ideas with their peers, attorneys, litigation support professionals, and human resource executives; it will also provide an opportunity to develop improved understanding of and strategies for effectively managing the e-discovery process. Approaches to motivating and rewarding today's paralegal workforce will be emphasized during discussions. YoungWilliams hires two paralegals

Jackson, MS-based YoungWilliams, PA, has recruited two paralegals to work in its business opportunities group. Sarah O'Neal, who earned her paralegal certification from Texas A&M University, will primarily work on commercial and finance transactions. Hope Eilders, who has a bachelor's degree in paralegal studies from the University of Mississippi, will concentrate on oil and gas, real estate, and estate administration. Founded in 1962, YoungWilliams serves a diversified clientele that includes individuals as well as family businesses and Fortune 500 companies.

Gust Rosenfeld adds associate

Law firm Gust Rosenfeld, PLC, has appointed Magdalena Osborn as an associate in its Tucson office. Osborn will primarily work on civil litigation matters, including complex contracts, healthcare, labor and employment, insurance defense, and personal injury issues. She previously interned with an in-house counsel at an applications service provider in Denver and with the Colorado Springs district attorney. A full-service law firm, Gust Rosenfeld serves Fortune 100 corporations and public entities as well as individuals.

Bingham McCutchen bolsters its land use practice in California

The land use and development practice group of international law firm Bingham McCutchen, LLP, has expanded with the addition of Partner Geoffrey K. Willis and his team of four lawyers who have moved to Bingham from Sedgwick, Detert, Moran & Arnold, LLP. The four attorneys joining Bingham along with Willis are Counsel Douglas Wance, Of Counsel David Hunt, and Associates David Collins and Jessica Duncan. The move broadens Bingham's existing land use and development practice in California, which has residential, industrial, commercial, and public-agency clients.

Lead prosecutor in Apple's stock options backdating case joins law firm

Christopher J. Steskal, a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's office in San Francisco, is leaving his post to join law firm Fenwick & West. Steskal was the lead prosecutor for a federal taskforce investigating stock option backdating at Apple, Inc., among other companies. His exit comes after the resignation of his boss, United States Attorney Kevin V. Ryan. With offices in Silicon Valley and San Francisco, Fenwick & West has 250 attorneys and specializes in providing counsel to technology and life sciences clients.
