Florida Default Law Group renews partnership with Learn.com
The Florida Default Law Group, a full-service real estate law firm, has renewed its partnership with Learn.com, a leader in on-demand workforce development and productivity. The Tampa-based law firm has chosen to renew the partnership based on the success it has had with Learn.com's LearnCenter. The LearnCenter platform has become the industry's leading talent management suite (TMS) managing complete lifecycles until retirement by creating an economic development environment to help users plan their careers. The Florida Default Law Group is one of Florida's largest providers of legal services related to mortgage banking.
Law firm Beckley Singleton will merge with Lewis and Roca
Beckley Singleton will merge with Phoenix-based Lewis and Roca to form one of the largest firms in Nevada. Beckley Singleton, one of the state's oldest law firms, has provided services for 45 years. The firm has decided to combine its staff of 34 attorneys with the smaller firm's staff and add several attorneys to the Nevada office by the end of the year. About 15 shareholders will become full partners in the new firm, two attorneys will join as of counsel, and 17 attorneys will join as associates.
New paralegal program to be launched by AWC
Arizona Western College will launch a new program for paralegals following requests from the legal community in Yuma, which has been searching for more locals with professional paralegal training. Students in the program will be trained for entry-level jobs in law offices and at the end of the program will be awarded associate's degrees or certificates in paralegal studies. They will be trained to perform a variety of tasks ranging from providing litigation support to reviewing documents.
Fifteen new partners join Davis, Polk & Wardwell
Davis, Polk & Wardwell has strengthened its corporate law practice with the addition of 12 new partners. The firm has also brought in three tax and litigation partners. The new additions to the firm are Bjorn Bjerke, Mary Conway, Michael Davis, Avi Gesser, Harald Halbhuber, Kimberley D. Harris, Kirtee Kapoor, Jinsoo H. Kim, James C. Lin, Arthur S. Long, Mark M. Mendez, Edmund Polubinski, III, Lanny A. Schwartz, Sarah K. Solum, and Mischa Travers. Davis, Polk & Wardwell has a total of 160 partners worldwide.
ADERANT, ILTA, and Baker Robbins to educate law firms
ADERANT, a global provider of business and financial-management software for professional-services organizations, will partner with ILTA (International Legal Technology Association) and Baker Robbins & Company for a tour aimed at educating law firms. The tour will update firms on the importance of balanced scorecards, which can be used as effective tools for monitoring and managing strategic goals. ADERANT will also provide insight into Microsoft Office PerformancePoint Server 2007. Baker Robbins & Company is a global technology-consulting firm providing technology solutions and caters to global law firms as well as the legal departments of many Fortune 500 companies.
