DataCert and Thomson Elite introduce law firm invoicing initiative
DataCert, Inc., a leading provider of legal and IP spend-management solutions, has introduced an initiative with Thomson Elite that will focus on the processing of electronic invoices by law firms. More than 1,000 legal professionals will participate in the Thomson Elite User Conference, to be held in Las Vegas from July 26 through July 28, where information on the new initiative will be shared. Currently, many of America's top law firms rely on manual processes when submitting e-invoices to corporate clients. DataCert has implemented its e-invoicing and legal spend-management solutions in more than 80 corporate law departments.
Manatt opens new office in San Francisco
National law and consulting firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, has signed a lease for new office space at 111 Sutter Street in San Francisco's financial district. Manatt will occupy two floors—a total of 25,000 square feet—with office space for 50 professionals. The law firm's San Francisco office will start business staffed with Manatt attorneys from the Palo Alto and Los Angeles offices. Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, is dedicated to providing legal and consulting services to global clients. In addition to its offices in San Francisco and Palo Alto, the firm also has a presence in Sacramento, CA, that focuses on government matters.
K&L Gates improves cellular signals in new office
Realizing that its new headquarters near the White House might pose cellular network problems for 500 staff members, Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis, LLP (K&L Gates), decided to have the new site surveyed. The study revealed that indoor cellular signals would probably be poor, especially in offices located three stories underground. K&L Gates chose San Jose-based LGC Wireless to boost cellular signals at the new facility. K&L Gates has also decided to make the new building Wi-Fi enabled. Builders in Washington, DC, have been forced to add multiple basement floors due to height restrictions, causing cellular-signal worries.
Townsend expands by opening Washington, DC, office
Townsend and Townsend and Crew, LLP, has announced the opening of its eighth location in Washington, DC. The law firm's newest office will initially be staffed by five partners, one associate, one counsel, and a full support team. Townsend and Townsend and Crew, LLP, is an intellectual property law firm with more than 200 attorneys and patent professionals. The Washington, DC, office will start out with a patent-focused practice, advising clients on a wide range of litigation matters. The office will also focus on trademark and copyright antitrust issues.
