Paralegal Goes to Jail for Embezzlement
A paralegal was sentenced to 16 months in prison in New York for embezzling more than $600,000 from a West Hartford, Connecticut, law firm. Karen Davis-Jenkins was found guilty of the embezzlement, the funds from which apparently went to feed her gambling habit.
Layoffs at South Florida Law Firms
After years of growth South Florida firms have been shedding staff and attorneys, with such firms as Holland & Knight laying off 70 staffers and Shutts & Bowen reducing staff in Miami by nine.
Los Angeles to Host Legal Staff Events
The Fifth Annual Paralegal SuperConference is being held in Los Angeles July 25 through 26, 2008. The Litigation Support Boot Camp will be held in Los Angeles as well from August 14 through 15.
