Dewey Ballantine and LeBoeuf Lamb to merge
Two leading law firms, Dewey Ballantine and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, are contemplating a merger. If they decide to merge, the new firm will have nearly 1,300 lawyers as well as locations in 12 countries and revenues close to $1 billion. LeBoeuf Lamb, established in 1929, has more than 700 lawyers and 18 offices. The law firm last year recorded $513 million in gross revenue. Dewey Ballantine, a 550-lawyer firm, specializes in mergers and acquisitions and served as an official adviser for the $33 billion buyout of HCA last year. Last year, Dewey Ballantine recorded about $409 million in gross revenue.
Microsoft CRM to be implemented by Reed Smith, LLP
Reed Smith, LLP, one of the largest law firms in the world, has decided to implement Microsoft Dynamics CRM and CRM4Legal by Client Profiles, Inc., which offer CRM technologies and consultancy services. CRM4Legal for Microsoft Dynamics CRM is specifically designed to serve the firm by providing a global, firm-wide database that will combine all contact data, relationship and client information, legal-experience data, and key financial information. Reed Smith operates 21 offices and has more than 1,500 lawyers throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. The firm has been ranked fourth among law firms for developing and maintaining superior client relationships and was named to the BTI Client Service A-Team in the United States, according to company officials.
Riemer & Braunstein implements Avaya's unified communications system
Riemer & Braunstein, a 70-year-old law firm headquartered in Boston, has incorporated Avaya's unified communications system. The company wanted to provide its attorneys with more communications options and help them stay in touch with clients and colleagues when away from the office. With Avaya's voicemail system, attorneys can access both email and voicemail using their cell phones or PDAs because the system integrates with Microsoft Outlook. About 90% of Fortune 500 companies use Avaya solutions for VoIP communications, unified communications, and various business processes. Riemer & Braunstein is currently experiencing considerable growth and has offices in New York, Chicago, and Burlington, MA.
