Project for Attorney Retention Seeks to Improve Diversity and Work-Life Balance
The Project for Attorney Retention (PAR) is striving to bring the problems of lack of diversity and work-life balance together and find a solution to both in the Diversity and Flexibility Connection initiative. Diversity issues, up until now, have traditionally focused on race while work-life balance issues have focused on women, but PAR argues they are connected. One of the suggestions has been for firms to allow/promote reduced hours as an option for lawyers. The Diversity and Flexibility Connection initiative group is expected to release its recommendations in the fall.
Robert Link Named to Rebuild London Office
After Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft made announced that their profits have dropped 30%, seven partners decided to leave the firm's London office for Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker. In the wake of this mass departure, they have appointed Robert Link, former managing partner of the same firm, to move to London in February and to rebuild the firm.
Looking on the Bright Side—Greenberg Traurig Acquires Three New Shareholders
Greenberg Traurig, LLP, a full-service, international law firm with presence in Asia, Europe, and the United States was thrilled to add three new shareholders to its practice in New York: Stephan Mallenbaum, Conrad Everhard, and Sean Hayes. The new shareholders all made their lateral move from K&L Gates. Richard A. Rosenbaum, President of Greenberg Traurig, said of the acquisition, ''Greenberg Traurig constantly seeks to advance the capabilities and breadth of our practices. While the economy is providing everyone with challenges, it's also providing many opportunities.'' Greenberg Traurig continues to look on the bright side. These three acquisitions are in addition to the recent additions of ten other lateral shareholders.
